When people call us with a behavior problem, for example an aggressive
dog, a runaway or just a completely overly frisky dog, Carlene talks
with them briefly on the phone and asks them a few questions. The main
question the person usually wants to know is what good it will do for
them to come to a private lesson with Carlene. The answer is this: the
$40 consultation does several things. #1. A professional determination
of exactly what the problem is (this is best done at Meadow Ridge
Kennels altho Carlene will do e-mail and phone consultations )#2. How
the problem can be fixed #3. How long it would take to fix the problem
and last #4. How much it will cost to fix the problem. Carlene "always"
makes sure that the owner knows that after he/she has met with Carlene,
the decision whether to continue and work on the problem is entirely up
to the owner. Carlene's job is to educate the owner to the point that
they can make an informed decision about re-training the dog.
We cannot even begin to tell you of the magnitude of success these
consultations have. Often people bring their dogs for the 1st initial
consultation and walk out shaking their heads with a super big smile on
their faces. The animal is already starting to be under control and the
owner is already gaining much confidence.
